Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. Proverbs 30:7-9
BE YE THANKFUL
This is a command. “Be ye thankful” (Colossians 3:15). In another place Paul said, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (I Thessalonians 5:18). Being thankful is not being thankful because things could be worse. Being thankful is being thankful because things could not be better! If God really is sovereign, whatever happens is best because He is in control of it. It may bring joy, it may bring sorrow. But whatever it brings, it is best. Whether our hearts are bubbling over with joy or breaking in sorrow, we are thankful. Whatever He does is best! We may not understand how it is best, but we do believe it is best. Therefore we are thankful!

Without Truth
Without truth there is no regeneration; for it is by "the word of truth "that we are begotten and born again. (James 1:18; 1 Pet. 1:23.) Without truth there is no justification;for we are justified by faith, which faith consists in crediting God's truth, and so, gives peace with God. (Rom. 4:20-24; 5:1.) Without the truth there is no sanctification;for the Lord himself says, "Sanctify them through your truth: your word is truth." And without the truth there is no salvation; for "God has chosen us to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth." (2 Thess. 2:13.) And as the truth is the instrumental cause of all these blessings, the divinely appointed means whereby they become manifested mercies, so truth enters into and is received by all the gracesof the Spirit as they come forth into living exercise. Thus, without the truth, there is no faith; for the work of faith is to believe the truth. What is all the difference between faith and delusion? That faith believes God's truth, and delusion credits Satan's lies. "And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, that they all might be damned who believe not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." J.C. Philpot
THE ATONEMENT
The atonement does not change the nature and character of God, but rather, the atonement honors and magnifies the character of God. The death of Christ is not the cause of God’s love, but the result of it. God is not merciful because Christ died. Christ died because God is merciful. In order that every attribute might be expressed, glorified, and honored, God gave His Son to be the Savior of His chosen people! Thank God! There is an atonement before the Lord! Pastor Henry T. Mahan
THE GLORY OF GOD’S GRACE
Ephesians 2: 8-9; For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Salvation—beginning to end—is by God’s grace. God elected a people unto salvation by grace, the very opposite of works. (Rom 11: 5-6) It was grace that abounded over sin and reigns through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom. 5: 20-21) The stewardship of every God-sent preacher is a “dispensation of the grace of God.” (Eph. 3: 2-8) The gospel we preach is “the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20: 24) We are “justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” (Rom. 3: 24) We are called by God’s grace. (Gal 1: 15) It is “grace wherein we stand” (Rom 5: 2) Believers are what we are by the grace of God. (I Cor. 15: 10)
So what is grace? Let me have your undivided attention. Grace is God’s glory! When Moses asked to see God’s glory, first, God said, “I will make all my goodness pass before thee”—God’s goodness is his glory. Then, God said, “I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee;”—God’s name is his glory.Lastly, God said, “and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.”—God’s grace is his glory. (Ex 33: 19)
All who add their wisdom, will or works attempt to rob God of his glory. God says, “My glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” (Is 42: 8) But those saved apart from any merit in us glory that salvation is of the Lord, “to the praise of the glory of his grace” (Eph 1: 6). Pastor Clay Curtis
One of the old preachers is reported to have said, “I preach as one who may never preach again, as a dying man to dying men.” How solemn a thought that is to those of us charged with preaching. Let us not tickle the ears of dying men with the trifles of earthly issues and vain religion.
But does this principle not apply in some way to the man who listens? Ought we not say every time we come to worship, “I listen as one who may never hear again, as a dying man among dying men”? God grant us the same seriousness in hearing as we expect in preaching!
