A Thought From the Word
“But we are always bound to give thanks always to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.” II Thessalonians 2:13
Looking for something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving season? Take a cue from the Apostle Paul. This servant of the Lord gave thanks for the work of God's grace that he witnessed in those he had ministered to. Paul was thankful that God, by His own sovereign grace and good pleasure, had chosen to save them. Paul was thankful that this choice led to the work of the Spirit sanctifying them in bringing them to believe the good news of Jesus.
Truth is, there is no greater blessing! To be a recipient of God's mighty work is wonderful. It's also wonderful to see Him work the same grace in others. The alternative is a life shut up in the darkness of sin and unbelief. The difference maker is God. Thank Him.
You are probably aware that your fellow Christian pilgrims are a flawed lot, to say the least! But, be thankful that you have fellow pilgrims who love, worship and obey Jesus. Be thankful that you have brothers and sisters you are bound together with in the Redeemer. And pray that God will strengthen us all together in deeper love and devotion to Him and one another.
