Realize Our Sinfulness (HFG-18)
A good question we can ask ourselves is “Am I reflecting the nature on Christ who lives in me by hating sin with the same hatred that God does?”
At its complete base form sin is the complete opposite of God. When one engages in sin, one engages in the exact behavior and thoughts that sent Christ to the cross. One tells Christ that his/her priority lies in that person and that person's sin; not in Him.
A good way to tell if your life is characterized by your sin or your love for Christ is your outward living as seen by others. Can the people around you in your daily life tell that you live and act and speak with a heart for God? Or when you tell people you are a Christian, people are surprised by your claim? We are to seek a life of godliness not out of earning grace but because we are recipients of ultimate grace. We must be constantly hungering for God.
