“Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.” Proverbs 29:8

There is a powerful truth contained in this verse. It is demonstrated daily in workplaces, on sports teams, in families, in churches, and in individual psyches. Attitude goes a long way to determining outcome. An attitude of doubt, skepticism, disdain, complaint, and excuses, when voiced, can spread and paralyze productivity. A few scornful men can snare a whole city. Wise men, however, can turn away wrath. I want to encourage you to think of this verse in relation to your own life. First, does your attitude reflect the hope that God is in control of your life and working on your behalf? Secondly, what affect does your attitude have on those around you? Is your office empowered or hampered by your perspective? Whether it is a person overcoming an injury or a team fighting to overcome a stronger opponent, it is always instructive to observe the power of our perspective. Ultimately, perspective comes from what we believe about God and our relationship with Him. What do you believe about God?
