“They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.” Proverbs 28:4
A sure indicator of spiritual coldness is an increasing enjoyment and defense of wickedness. Whether this misplaced praise is manifested in a shifting on moral issues or in an increased thirst for lewd entertainment, the source of this coldness is always the same – a forsaking of the law, or word of God. But it goes deeper than that. The word of God is convincing only when God Himself is convincing. In other words, the desire to forsake the law and the desire to keep the law come from the same thing – one’s view of God. What is your perception of God? What attributes of God grab your attention and cause you to stand amazed at His majesty? Do you need to become reacquainted with the living God on a personal level? The law of God only ceases to be a lifeless list of rules when God Himself is alive within our hearts.
