Our hearts can’t help but resonate with the reality of the fact that by our very nature, we are never satisfied. The comparison to hell and destruction, points to the fact that our cravings, longings, and desires just keep on craving, longing, and desiring. This is a very insightful truth, especially when we consider it in times of discontentment. We can convince ourselves that if our desires were simply met in the area of life in which we are obsessing at the moment, we would be satisfied. But God pulls the curtain back, and shows us that our hearts are full of idols. These idols leave us empty. Our satisfaction and contentment only comes as we look to Christ and find our fulfillment in Him.
