With such a description, no one would plead guilty to being contentious. “It’s not that I was being contentious; I just wanted to make sure my point was being understood.” With such explanations, no one is ever contentious. But the real identifier is found in the word – contentious. Are you easily irritated? Are you often irritated? Does your irritation hover in your mind? Does it spill into your conversations with your friends? Does it sometimes erupt from your mouth? Do you often find fault with others?
