We as a family had the privilege of attending the Summer Conference hosted and organised by the friends at Tabernacle Cardiff. There were so many high points to the conference and it is hard to begin to describe its blessings. Firstly the ministry was Christ-centered and Spirit filled. All of the preachers left the congregation having their hearts stirred and filled. On the Monday evening Pastor John Saunders of Providence Chapel Chichester preached a Gospel message on the widow of Nain's son. The following two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) Rev Malcolm Watts of Emmanuel Church, Salisbury preached on the visions of Christ from Isaiah. Dr Gerald Bilkes of Puritan Reformed Seminary drew lessons from the life of Jacob seeing how the Lord deals with his people. Pastor Jonathan Stobbs from Penzance Baptist Church preached Christ from the Psalms. The closing session was taken by Rev Dafydd Morris of Trinitarian Bible Society who closed the conference with a Gospel message. There were also Welsh language meetings preached at by Rev Dewi Higham and Pastor Alun Higham.
Secondly the worship was reverent and Christ exalting. The singing was a great blessing to be part of. There were good numbers present from various churches.
Thirdly the fellowship was a great blessing. There was never a shortage of people to renew friendship with or foster new relationships.
Fourthly the hospitality of the congregation of Tabernacle Cardiff was tremendous. Refreshments, teas, lunches (on the Lord's Days) were provided. There was a creche available for children and the use of the building for anyone that wanted to stay at the church between the meetings.
Fifthly the facilities were great - there was subtitles / simultaneous translation (Welsh services) available for any that needed this. The services were videoed and transmitted live so those unable to attend the meeting for reasons such as looking after young children could still participate.
Sixthly there was a good bookstall, Christian Worship table, TBS, Bible League Trust, Protestant Truth and WV Higham Trust were all represented.
Overall it was a week of Sabbaths and a little glimpse of heaven!
We would encourage others to attend this worthwhile, enjoyable and gospel centered conference in 2016 the Lord Willing.
