Today we will look at the second half of our passage. Yesterday we saw how wisdom behaves. Today we will see the goal in living wisely toward our enemies. Solomon gives us two motivating factors, one is a potential result; the other is sure. The first result may be that our enemies become softened toward us and convicted by our repaying evil with good. Who knows, but that God might use you as a means of transforming grace in the life of one who is desperately in need of change. As you pray for an enemy to repent, it would also be wise to behave in a way that God has prescribed, and many times uses, to bring about repentance. The second result that ought to motivate us is that God shall reward you. This is a sure thing, regardless of how your enemy responds. Pleasing God and seeking to live in a way that He will bless, ought to be the growing desire of every Christian. May God bless us in this pursuit, that He may be honored and glorified through our lives.
