For the past four Saturdays we have been engaging in evangelistic outreach. The first two days we set up our display table, handed out gospel tracts and preached outside Partick Station, Glasgow, the other two days we were based on Byers Road, Glasgow, near to the junction with University Avenue. It has been encouraging for the Pastor to see members of the congregation seeking to reach out and bring the gospel to the masses of people in Glasgow.
At Partick Station we handed out more tracts and had less refusals; whilst we encountered more indifference, rejection and negative reaction at our Byers Road stance. Nevertheless, we intend to continue believing that it is our duty and privilege.
To date we cannot say that we have noticed any tangible fruit from our endeavours, but those directly involved can testify that their own Christian experience has been enhanced. Sometimes as Christians we can lead closeted lives whereby we only encounter church or Christian people. It is good to be in 'the market place' and seek to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
In early June we expect a visit from our denomination's Home Mission Worker Mr. Donald J Morrison, who will be joining us in a concentrated week of outreach. We hope he will build on what we have started and that we might learn and benefit from his visit.
This Saturday (16 May) DV we intend to set up in Byers Road again, but at a later time, between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm. (Cancelled because of inclement weather).
Do join with us if you can and please remember this work in prayer. We are conscious we need the blessing of the Lord.
