Reflections While Reading

Today in our reading, we come to the death of David.

1Ch 29:28 And he died in a good old age, full of days, riches, and honour: and Solomon his son reigned in his stead.

David's life was full of ups and downs. It was full of walking with God. At times in David's life his faithfulness to God was unquestioned. At other times, we wonder about his faithfulness. How could David have so much faith that he slew the giant. Then, turn around later, lust for Bathsheba, and commit adultery and murder?

David's life was much like ours sometimes. At times our faith is great; at others not so much. We experience the tremendous blessings of God. Then, we turn right around, make a poor decision and face the consequences of our sin.

Let's remember the testimony which God gave of David when God made David king.

1Sa 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee. God said of David, he was "a man after his own heart."

When we walk through life facing these ups and downs, times of strength and weakness; let the testimony be that we are a people after God's own heart.

One thing is certain, God was with David until the end. God never turned His back on David. Also, we see David following God at the end of his life. God was faithful to David. David walked with the Lord. Can we have a better testimony than that?

Remember today, God is Faithful to His people. He will be Faithful to you. You may be in one of those times when your faith is weak. Remember, God is Faithful. You may be in one of those times when you are facing the consequences of a poor decision. Remember, God is Faithful.

The testimony which was given for David, "He died in a good old age, full of days and riches and honor." David walked with God until the end. Will the testimony of your life be that you walked with God until the end? Let your confidence be in the Lord today. He will not turn away from you. Don't turn away from Him.
