How would you describe the level of your strength? Chances are, if we were able to see the hearts of people, the varying answers to this question would surprise us. You would find that many people you consider to have great strength consider themselves weak, and many who are obviously weak, consider themselves strong. The reason for this is that God’s measure of strength is different from ours. You see, Paul came face to face with the sufficiency of God’s grace in 2 Corinthians 12, and what he found was that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness (vs9). The truth that this reveals is that when we are trying to do life in our own strength, we will always find our strength to be small. However, when we look to Christ’s wisdom and strength, and embrace His sufficiency through faith and obedience, we find that our strength is sufficient for the adversity at hand. May we learn to lift our eyes in adversity and look to our sufficient savior for strength.
