This morning I read a well known passage of Scripture. Joshua is preparing to die. He has led the people in the conquest of the Promised Land. His time upon earth is now ending. He challenges the people.
Jos 24:14 Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Of course, the children of Israel made their testimony. They will serve the Lord. As we read their history, we know they didn't follow the Lord as closely as they testified they would.
How often is our testimony tested? We make bold proclamations that we will serve God. However, do we walk as close to the Lord as our testimony suggests we will?
Often, we will be faced with the challenge of service. Will we serve this world? Will we serve the Lord? Who are you serving today? What is primary in your life? Do you seek first the kingdom of God and His Righteousness? Or, do you seek the things of the world?
Who you are serving will be proven by the choices that you make today.
