Imagine Finding the Single Solution to all Problems!
Jesus' healings and other miracles were never about the mere miracle. they were pointers to something else. His message was the point. It is ironic that history bears witness to a man who claimed to be the solution to all of the problems in the world, and then he went ahead and proved it! Yet this news is considered mediocre by the world. This man, Jesus, stands in the boat with Peter, and instructs him to do something that just doesn't make sense to him. Yet, because of Jesus' words, Peter simply does so. Even though, to them, the action was illogical, Jesus so overwhelms them with His miracuolous power that they remain amazed by his word. His word! Jesus impacts Peter exactly where he needs to be impacted. he must commit himself to Christ. Yet this moment for him is couched in a painful consciousness of personal sinfulness. In contrast to this, how many people will see Jesus and want to connect to him as their personal miracle-worker? This is not the way in which the Holy Spirit works. He takes the sinner who is weary of his own sinfulness and raises him up to Christian service that results in unspeakable glory! Heartfelt service. Genuine glory.
