What an amazing feat! When Israel fought against the Amorites, Joshua commanded the sun to stand still. Think how great of a feat this is. In order for that to happen, the earth had to stop spinning. Joshua probably didn't understand the ramifications of this; but the earth stood still. God had to hold it in orbit. Not only did God give Israel a great victory, He held the earth in it's place. He is truly all powerful.

Also, as the king's who came against Israel are being defeated, Joshua gave the leaders words of encouragement.“Do not be afraid, nor be dismayed; be strong and of good courage, for thus the Lord will do to all your enemies against whom you fight.” The Lord would give them victory in every battle they fight. We need to have the same confidence of victory. If God has called us to duty, He will give us the victory.
