Once again today my reading is full of thoughts. First, God tells Israel they are going to inherit a land for which they did not work. They would inherit a land with dug out cisterns and vineyards planted. Think of the blessings of God. How often He blesses us in ways in which we can not imagine.
Also, God tells the children of Israel that He will not drive out the inhabitants in a day. They will be driven out little by little. This is so the land will not be overtaken by wild beasts, etc. We should remember this applies to God's work in us. He will work in us little by little. He will remove the old nature little by little.
Additionally, God told the children of Israel to remove the carved image from the land. Anything they do not remove will be a hindarnce to them. So too of the world in our lives. Any influnece of the world which we do not remove will become a hindrance to our walk with God.
Think of this, God tells the children of Israel, he allowed them to hunger. So He could test them to see what was in their hearts. He humbled them so they would know that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word which proceeds from the mouth of God.
Many more gems can be mined from the reading today. It is my prayer these reflections of mine will encourage you to dig deep into the Word of God to find the gems God has waiting for you!
