Ge 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. When you read the opening verse of the Bible, without explanation of His character you are introduced to God. Then you are told that this God created the heaven and the earth. Admittedly, you can't get past this opening statement without wondering where this God came from, what was before His creative acts and why did He create?
What was there before "in the beginning"? The only conclusion and answer to this question would be, God. Later, in the book of Psalms we read, Ps 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Before there was anything, there was God, self-existent, self-sustaining, self-contained; He was all by Himself, Almighty God. That thought in itself is almost hard to believe and understand were it not for faith. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Nothing was needed to make Him God, He is God all by Himself, without any beginning.
So, in the beginning we read about this God who is all sufficient in Himself creating. Without any obligation, necessity or constraint, God created a heaven and an earth. As a sovereign act of this eternal God, caused by nothing other than His own purpose and will, God created. That He did create tells us that there is a Divine purpose behind His willful act of creation. God was in need of nothing, yet He created.
With that thought in mind, this same God created YOU! But before He created you, He knew that you would fall short of the glory He had in mind for you. Therefore, this same creative God, created Calvary so that He might redeem you unto Himself. He has a purpose and plan for your life, but without the redeeming, creative act of salvation applied in your life, this plan and purpose will be forever lost into eternity.
What an amazing thought! The God who needed nothing, created you and He created Calvary so that you might become a new creation in Christ.
What is the conclusion from all of this reasoning? This Creative God wants to create your life for His plan and purpose. Our plans and purposes pale in comparison to His creative ways. Give your heart wholly to Him and see what this Master Creator might create!
2Co 5:17-18 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
