Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. There are a lot of things in life that I fail to see the purpose of. I really don't understand the purpose of some government programs. I don't mean to go political but there is a lot of nonsense and overspending within our government. When looking at life, there are a lot of things that really are purpose-less!
Within the realm of God's kingdom though there is nothing without purpose. Every trial, every heartache and every circumstance that we encounter is designed by a sovereign God that does all things well. When we fail to realize that nothing enters our lives without God's approval and superintending, we will think life to be without purpose. Many believe today that God is sitting upon His throne with His arms crossed without regard to the affairs of this life. Nothing could be further from the truth. God knows all! God sees all! God controls all! And, God is involved in all!
While in the pit, surely Joseph wondered the point of all the deceit, desertion and deception from his brothers. What was the purpose in the pit? God had given him a dream and now the pit was going to ruin that dream. But God had a purpose. That pit was his avenue to the dream being fulfilled. If Joseph had pondered and wondered at his circumstances, his sight of God would have dimmed and grown dark. But God was with Joseph! Years later, while living his dream Joseph told his brethren, "But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive." (Genesis 50:20) Joseph realized that God really does fulfill his purpose in our lives.
Are you going through some things that seem without purpose? If you are a child of God, nothing is without purpose. God is the potter, we are His clay. Your day may seem drear, bleak and cloudy but the sun is still shining. Don't look at your circumstances, look at your Purpose Maker!
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
