He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? (Micah 6:8 ESV) Our Lord Jesus Christ has done it all. He came, lived a perfect life, kept the law of God that we could not, and died as our sacrifice. He has made us completely able to stand in the presence of God as children not on the basis of our good works but on the basis of his obedience. Our righteousness is but filthy rags and we stand before the Lord drapped in the righteousness of Christ. That is amazing! It truly is incomprehensible. such great love, mercy, and grace are demonstrated freely and without reservation by our God.
In gratitude for such a great love, how then should we live. Micah 6:8 states unequivocally that as believers, we should live in such a way that we bring glory to God by our godly conduct. We should be a people readily living just lives, demonstrating kindness to all those around us, and walking with an air of humbleness.
To walk in justice would mean that we, as His people, do the right thing at all times. Our lives should be marked by patterning our lives after the life of Jesus Christ.
To love kindness would mean that as a people we deal with each other and with those that are unsaved with love and forgivness. We do so because we understand that our Lord forbears with us on a daily basis. We offer the Lord's love in like manner to all that cross our paths.
Finally, we as Christians should be a humble people. We understand that the only reasons we are right with God is becasue of what he has done. We dare not think of ourselves more highly than we should. We are not better than anyone else, only forgiven by the grace of God.
Walk in such a way that you bring Glory to His name! Pastor Ismael
