"One of the most encouraging lessons from the life of David is that God’s mightiest men are not necessarily the strong or the qualified, but those who are wise enough to see their weakness, rely on God’s strength, and move forward in faith." I read these words from a book review of The Making of a Man of God by Alan Redpath. I have this book in my library and read it many years ago. The book review inspired me to re-read this book soon.
Being a Christian man is a wonderful act of God's grace in a man's life, but being a Christian man does not automatically mean that a man is a man of God. In fact, there is a dearth of men of God today. In 1 Samuel 13 we are told that God had to look for a man after his own heart.
1Sa 13:14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
Not every Christian man has his heart fixed on the Lord and the things that involve God's kingdom. Simply being a pastor, preacher, teacher, or whatever position does not mean that that individual is a man of God. Doing the work of God does not guarantee that a man's heart is right with God.
A man's private walk with the Lord and their heart to heart relationship will determine the outcome of that man's life. Christian men; give God your heart! Please! Our homes, our churches, our nation are starving for men who will seek the Lord with all their heart. Remember the first command?
Mt 22:37-38 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
The Lord's plea -
Pr 23:26 My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
