“And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place and go after it. Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits by measure: come not near unto it, that ye may know the way by which ye must go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore.” Joshua 3:3,4
The setting is, after a long wait of 40 years, God's people were about to cross over the Jordan River and into the Promised Land. It wasn't going to be easy. There were enemies there. Challenges would exist. Much more, they had never been there before; they were about to travel in uncharted waters.
The good news is, God provided direction for them as the priests carried the ark of the covenant, which is a symbol of the presence of God. There are times in our lives as well when we have to travel thru roads we've never been before. Challenges we've never dreamed we'd face or responsibilites that we've never had to think about.
God provides for us. He leads us thru His word as we seek it's wisdom. He leads us thru seasoned Christian pilgrims who provide wise counsel. He leads by His Spirit. Uncharted waters can be scary and intimidating. But don't remove God from your perspective. Trust Him to guide you through.
