John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. It is evident in the Scriptures that God's people are characterized as being a people that love Christ's appearing. Hebrews 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. As the world becomes darker and more deceptive, how much better our Saviour and His Kingdom appears! How our longings increase to see our Lord Jesus face to face. However, recognizing, and not being ignorant of Satan's devices, he seeks to discourage us with prolonged dwellings on the ever increasing iniquity abounding and the love waxing cold. Also, our flesh is weak and we become weary in well doing. A favorite passage of mine in light of all this is found in John 16:33, These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. Be encouraged, the world's depravity has not taken Christ by surprise. The world is as good as defeated for the Lord has spoken. May the Lord help us to go in the strength of the nourishment of His Word this day. 1 Peter 1:13 ¶ Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
