In Psalm 121 we see the psalmist changes the direction he is looking! The psalm begins with "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help". The second step on the staircase to his spiritual victory was to quit looking out and down, but to begin to look up toward the hills. This speaks of the location of the temple, the abiding place of the Lord. He knew that at the temple, in the presence of the Lord, he could receive help. How did he know this? No doubt he had received help there previously!
Please note this psalm if accredited to David was prior to Solomon's temple, but from Psalm 122:1-2 we know there was a house of the LORD at Jerusalem.
Let's bring this down to our day. Perhaps if we need spiritual help we need to change our gaze! Instead of looking to the world, our friends, our family, the professionals, or whomever why don't we look to a godly New Testament church that is declaring truth, where the presence of the Lord abides, and their focus is upon Him? It is there you will find help!
I can honestly say that I have received more spiritual help in the House of God among God's people than any other place in my Christian life! What direction are you looking in? Perhaps you need to lift up your eyes and look toward the hills and like the psalmist, it want be long until you are focusing upom the Lord, and finding the help you need.
Dear saint be sure you are looking in the right direction, and until next time God bless you.
