2,700 years ago the world was a dark and gloomy place. But Isaiah the prophet came bringing glad tidings of great joy. Though the world did not deserve it, nor discover it, nor want it, not believe they needed it, a gift from God was soon to arrive. What was it? It was Christmas!
Isaiah goes on to describe this gift from God as a great light which would come from another realm, illuminate the land and lift the gloom of the peoples. There would be rejoicing as in the harvest time. The swords would be turned to tools of service, and a new king would establish his throne.
What was this great light? Who was this great light? Has he come? And if so, what does this mean for my life and my future? These are questions answered in this most recent Christmas sermon.
