This text points to a truth that we should always keep close by: There are only two ways of doing things, God’s way, and my way. God’s way leads to life, my way leads to death. God’s way leads to joy and happiness, my way leads to guilt and misery. In our verse today, both the wicked and the righteous have plenty of substance. However, only the righteous can enjoy their substance as a treasure. The wicked, through greed, are unsatisfied with what they have, or through envy, are looking over their shoulder due to wicked and dishonest means of gain. They are never able to truly enjoy their gain due to a lack of peace and rest. How will you choose to make your decisions today? You only have two choices; you can do it your way, or God’s way.
