“The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.” Proverbs 14:35
This passage should come as no surprise to anyone. Wisdom brings favor, shame brings wrath. The favor of those in authority is one of the blessings of wisdom. A wise individual can be trusted and does not need someone looking over their shoulder to make sure that they aren’t going to make an irresponsible choice. A wise individual has someone else’s best interest in mind, so and authority doesn’t have to worry about selfish motives. A wise individual is influenced and ruled by the Word of God, so an authority doesn’t have to worry about a rebellious attitude or actions. Where do those who are in authority over you fall in this verse? Are you receiving favor or wrath?
