1. Unto the Lord this sinner owed A debt I could not pay; My sins were such an awful load, But Christ put them away.
2. His blood has washed away my shame, And satisfaction made; O bless the dear Redeemer’s name, My ransom price is paid.
3. Salvation unto Christ I owe, O what a gracious Friend; He washed and made me white as snow, On Him my hopes depend.
4. Someday in heav’n I’ll sing His praise, With all the ransomed throng; And joyfully my voice I’ll raise, To sing redemption’s song

God the Father contrived the scheme and method of justification; it would have been a puzzling question to angels and men, had not He resolved it; "How should man," sinful man, "be just with God?" But God, in His infinite wisdom, "found a ransom," a Ransomer, a Redeemer of His people, to bring in everlasting righteousness for them, and thereby acquit and discharge them, and "deliver them from going down to the pit" of ruin and destruction. "God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself." God was with Him, forming the scheme of their peace and reconciliation, of their redemption, justification, and salvation. "Not imputing their trespasses," but the righteousness of His Son to them (Job 33:24; 2 Corinthians 5:19).

Justice Satisfied
The resurrection, ascension, enthronement and mediatoral reign of our Lord Jesus Christ testify that He successfully redeemed His people. God’s elect have been bought with His blood, justice has been satisfied, sin has been put away and everlasting righteousness has been brought in. The fact that our Lord is seated upon His throne is undeniable evidence that the work has been accomplished to the Father’s full satisfaction.

Justification Before God
Spiritual life, faith, repentance, love, the obedience of grace, and perseverance in the faith are not in part or in whole the ground, cause, or condition for our justification before God. These graces of the Holy Spirit are the fruit of our justification by the grace of God based on the righteousness of Christ imputed (charged) to a sinner. It is the obedience unto death of Christ, God the Son incarnate that lays the ground, provides the cause, and fulfills every condition for which God justifies and saves His elect.

PREACHING PREDESTINATION
If I am to tell the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ and that salvation that is in Him, I must preach predestination. Predestination is essential to knowing God as He really is and ascribing the glory to Him that He deserves. Predestination, which is simply God acting as God, shows us that God not only “can” but “has” worked all things after the counsel of His own will. The word itself means to “mark out before hand.” God has set the bounds of our habitation and before the world began determined all things, especially in the salvation of His elect. “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Rom. 8:29) Conformity to Christ with all it involves comes surely to God’s people out of His fore-loving them and fore-determining all things necessary to bring it to pass. “in love… Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,” (Eph 1:5)Without God’s predestination there is no Christ and no inheritance of grace: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:” (Eph 1:11) Things are not determined by man’s so-called “free will” but by the sovereign, wise and gracious will of God. If this were not true, neither God’s prophecies nor His promises could be believed and relied upon. But God’s predestination is most evident in the cross death of His Son! This is one of the first things the Spirit of God led Peter to preach to the people: “Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:” (Acts 2:23) Wicked men of all kinds, doing exactly what they wanted to do and what they’ll be held responsible for doing, did in all things what God had predestinated to be done: “The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.” (Acts 4:26-28) God’s people love predestination because they love the One who predestined. They love what God in grace predestined concerning them and their complete salvation by and in Christ!“Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.”
