One of the most blatant historical errors in The Da Vinci Code involves the famous Louvre pyramid. Although this is one of the simplest pieces of information for Dan Brown to check, with the museum being the central location of the story, he has blundered in typical fashion.
He claims that the pyramid outside the Louvre in Paris is “constructed of exactly 666 panes of glass” (p.21) – the Number of the Beast!
But, as with so many of Dan Brown's claims, there is not a word of truth in this!
Architectual sources say the Louvre pyramid has 603 diamonds and 70 triangles (i.e. 673 panes in all).
The Louvre’s own website puts the figure at 673.
