We will take The Lords Supper this evening.
Hymn for the Day
My people shall know My name.
They shall all be taught of God.
And there is none other name
Whereby His people must call.
This name above ev’ry name
Is the Lord our Righteousness,
The Lord God, the great ‘I AM’.
Beside Him there is none else.
God shall make His people know
In that great day of His pow’r:
Makes them willing to Him go
For salvation in that hour.
Our Savior makes Himself known
Through the preaching of His Word.
He will speak to all His own,
“Your Redeemer is the Lord.”
He’s the God of all the earth,
The Mighty One of Jacob,
Lamb of God before His birth,
Known by saints and praised above.

MY ONLY HOPE
The preaching of Christ Jesus and Him crucified is hated by this religious world. But those who believe, and are saved, love it with a perfect love. It is our only hope, our Salvation. If we compromise on this to please the people of our day, we compromise the Gospel, and make the death of our Lord Jesus Christ of none effect. We have no Salvation. We have no hope. We will stand before a thrice Holy God with a hope only in what we can do to satisfy His justice. We will be obligated to pay our sin debt with the works of the flesh, while the Scriptures declare that "By the works of the flesh shall no man be justified in His sight." What hope is there in this? None whatsoever.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.

~~~ O ~~~
In 1873, a lady by the name of Dorothy Greenwell wrote these words.
I am not skilled to understand,
What God hath willed, what God hath planned.
I only know at His right hand,
Is One Who is my Saviour!
Beloved, I take these words to be my own. There is so much that I am not skilled to understand concerning the will of God and His divine purpose in the salvation of His people. I see through a glass darkly. I know in part and I preach in part as God is pleased to reveal His Word to me. But there is one thing that I do know. At the right hand of God there sits One who is my Savior. May God enable me to clearly declare HIM! - Pastor David Eddmonson
Without Me, you can do nothing. (John 15:5) I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. (Phil 4:13)
What a blessing it would be to us to learn these two things. Without Christ, I can do nothing. I cannot think a right thought; I cannot muster up a right motive. I cannot perform a good deed. I cannot repent, believe, or love without Him enabling me to. I cannot turn myself toward Him. I cannot even hear the Gospel! It is a blessing to realize this because it causes us to go to Him for these things. I may not be able to come to Christ with faith, but I come to Him for faith! The second verse is equally true. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” The man with the withered hand could not stretch it forth. But when Christ commanded him to, he could. The impotent man could not get himself into the pool. But when Christ commanded him to rise and walk, he could. With men all things are impossible, but with God all things are possible. There is nothing we cannot do with Christ strengthening us. Oh that we would simply believe these two things.
Peter’s Denial of the Lord – (Mark 14 & Luke 22)
Four Things That Lead To Certain Fall (and denial of Christ)
1. Put your brethren down and lift yourself up. “Though all these may deny Thee, yet I never will.”
2. Stay far away from the Lord. “Simon followed afar off.” The Lord has promised to be where 2 or 3 are gathered in His name. He is always among His people in the time of worship. If we stay away...afar off...it is only a matter of time until we fall away (if we haven’t already) and deny the Lord.
3. Sit With the Ungodly. -- “Peter sat by the fire and warmed himself.” If we sit with the ungodly people of this world; people who have no use for God and Christ; we will end up like them...cast out of His presence. “How can light have fellowship with darkness?” How can we make companions of them who hate our God? “Evil communications corrupt good manners.”
4. Fear Man - Not God, Save your life (reputation) – It was first one maid then another that caused Peter to fall. Were they pretty? Did Simon Peter fear being thought less manly for confessing Christ? So Simon began to curse and swear, proving himself to be a real man and no weak disciple of that Jesus. O’ my! - Pastor Paul Mahan
