For the Local area Soho is the church on the Prayer Diary for the coming week. On the Anniversary of the opening of the Fair Share shop in Soho Andrew Murray writes: 1. Thank God for the shop staff ! The church has been very encouraged by the support we have received from others. Linda Burbridge, Nigel Hoad and volunteers from a number of churches have created an attractive and welcoming shop that enhances our reputation, and that of the Lord Jesus. We are very grateful for this. 2. Thank God too for a place that demonstrates our presence in the community. For many years we have been invisible on the streets of Soho. Now our church name is permanently displayed in red lettering above the shop and, as well as the day-to-day trading, passers-by regularly see Christians engaged in Bible study and prayer (Tuesday evenings) and evangelism (Thursday evenings). Wonderful! 3. Pray that the business will grow. There has been a lot to learn through the year, and we are in a position to use this experience now that it seems we have a longer term future than we first thought. Linda has a number of ideas that she hopes will increase trade and thus enable Fair Share to cover more of our costs. These include featuring a βproduct of the monthβ from some of the smaller independent suppliers, which will widen the range of goods we offer, and developing our website, which is at www.fairshare-soho.org . 4. Pray for the book table. We began the book table fortnightly but found it to be such a good opportunity that we decided to do it every week. It takes place on Thursday evenings, roughly from 8 - 10pm. We put the table outside the shop with free literature to take away, and offer tracts to people who walk past. Even in midwinter there are always people about. Sometimes the atmosphere is a bit threatening, because of the drug users who often hang around, but there are usually some folk who will stop to talk, and occasionally come inside for a coffee. Pray that this regular witness will have an impact, especially on neighbours who see us there. 5. Pray for other evangelistic use of the shop. Fair Share has enabled us to make contact with local people we hadnβt met before, but it hasnβt been as easy as I had thought to get our neighbours to come to activities in the shop, though a carol evening in December showed that it is possible. We need to persevere with this, and are considering whether we should try an occasional Sunday meeting, but it may be that using the basement for Bible study with individuals will prove more effective.

FOY SOUTH EAST YOUTH EVENT Itβs that time again when we host the South East Youth. The games evening will be held on Friday 12th May at 7.30pm. The evening will be held at Bedonwell Junior School to enable us to use the school field and accommodate the talk afterwards. For the event to run successfully, it is important that we have enough helpers (20 minimum) to organize the games, help with catering, security etc. If you are able to help, please could you sign up today. Any questions, please speak to an FOY leader. Your help would be very much appreciated.
