"Where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox." Proverbs 14:4

In Solomon’s day, the idea of a “get rich quick scheme” was unheard of. If a man was going to provide for himself and his family, he would have to labor and sacrifice. Part of this labor and sacrifice involved getting the necessary tools for the job. If one were to put the time and effort into obtaining an ox, it would be time well spent. We would say that the ox would quickly pay for itself. But, what if an individual decided to get a horse instead? Well, besides speed, an ox would be far superior, but you could probably still achieve some level of profit from a horse. What about a dog or a cat? Most of us realize that either of these would be a foolish investment.
