“The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” Proverbs 12:19
This morning, as you prepare to face unknown challenges, upon what will you base your response? You may receive horrifying news of loss. The financial markets may crash. You may be presented with nearly irresistible temptation. If your approach to life is based on the principle that truth is permanent, then no matter what challenges present themselves, you already know how to respond. The beauty of truth is that it is constant. It does not need to adjust to new information or better understanding. It is already established because it comes from the perfect wisdom of God. We tend to make life much more complicated than it needs to be. We wrestle with decisions because we allow other factors to make truth murky. But truth is not murky. It is clearly presented in God’s Word. So, your need today is not to wrestle with a million lying tongues in your ear. Your need is to understand where truth is found and then live on its stability and permanence.
