Bible Quiz (The answers are at the end of the blog. Have fun!!) According to the Bible, are these statements true or false?
1. The Creation account follows the evolutionary model of events. 2. If days are translated to ages (allowing for millions or billions of years), then the creation account and evolutionary models track each other and can be reconciled, one to the other.
Dear Prayer Warriors,
I do not quite know where to begin in giving you a report of God’s workings in answer to your prayers here in Bamenda, Cameroon. As Paul exhorted in Romans 15:30, “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me,” and this blessing has obviously been the case as we felt daily the power of your prayers.
The enemy, satan, though, has not been idle. It is often said that we are most vulnerable, not on his attacks upon our person, but rather those which fall upon our loved ones. Eleanor and Judy have both been sick with “tourist stomach” and have not been far from a toilet for over a week. Only today have they been back on their feet. In the midst of this trial, God has been working.
The Bamenda Conference This conference was a great success! Ministers came in from all over the country. One pastor introduced himself and said that he had come to hear me speak five years ago. At that time, he was discouraged, thinking of leaving the ministry, and his marriage was in trouble. The conference, the Bible, the study aids and the ministry helps were such an encouragement that he said he made a Lordship decision to continue in his calling and that God had greatly blessed him. The sermons on marriage had so transformed their relationship that it had grown stronger every year. He said he and his wife faithfully come for the full week conference and post-conference using their two week vacation allowance just for this purpose.
You may recall from last year a report on a young man whom I mentioned had walked three days and spent two nights under the stars to come to the conference. Praise God, he was here again! This time, though, his ministry had grown to where his church was able to buy him a bus ticket.
One of the great joys at the conference was seeing all the leather study Bibles being used by pastors, ministers and student workers. Of the several hundred attending, most had Bibles which your faith and gifts over the years supplied. Richard Smith, Dan and Judy McCollum and my dear wife Eleanor all shared in the teaching responsibilities. I preached four hours each day, and the rest of the team all led workshops and seminars. It was certainly a Word of God and Christ-centered conference, and I praise God for the job Taniform Peters and his team did in putting it on.
A highlight from the conference occurred at the closing Sunday service, which included a sermon on the Marriage Covenant and then a procession, as the pastors danced down the aisle with their wives to the accompaniment of congregational singing. All were dressed in their most elegant national dress. As they assembled in front and took their seats, I then delivered my sermon. At the close, they all stood facing their wives, held hands and rededicated their marriages to God. Afterwards, there was a time of rejoicing, tears and thanksgiving, as marriages were solidified, others healed and all rededicated to Christ.
Post-Conference Seminar Many of the pastors and ministers wanted more, so one of the ministers offered up his home, that we might hold continued teaching in a series of post-conference seminars. Those men attending slept on the floor or on couches, and the women slept four or five to a bed. Each day we arrived to find them seated and eager to be taught. Each night, after six hours of seminars, they broke into groups to put together applications for themselves and their ministries. It was a humbling time as I considered the sacrifice and dedication of these faithful servants of the Lord.
Hope Baptist Family Conference The Post-Conference Seminar ended Thursday and the Hope Baptist Family Conference began on Friday. For the first four hours Friday morning, about 80 teenagers gathered to hear the Word of God taught on "How to Grow as a Disciple." Dan and I taught four hours (with El taking the girls during one session), and during this time you could have heard a pin drop. There was such seriousness and dedication.
After lunch, over 200 young career and professionals arrived for a four-hour training time in evangelism and personal discipleship. Again, they were serious and attentive. All had their Bibles open, all were taking notes, and none wanted the sessions to end.
The last part of the seminar came on Saturday morning, with over 200 couples attending the Family Discipleship Seminar. God worked mightily during this time as well (more on this time later).
I close this short report as it began with a reminder from Romans 15:30: “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.” It is by the power of your faith and prayers that great things are being accomplished in the Lord’s name here in Bamenda, Cameroon.

Answers to this week’s Bible quiz 1 & 2. False - In both cases, the answer is false. Take a look at the progression of creation in Genesis 1:1–31, and you will see that even if the word “day” is mistranslated into “ages,” no relief is given to the man who has no faith. The very order of creation by God does not allow for any logical or scientific recreation through the evolutionary model. Man is therefore left with faith in the divine, eternal, inerrant written Word of God and it’s account of creation or a flawed document recounting mythological rendition of how the world came into being passed down through oral tradition with many changes over the years. As for me, I stand with the written Word on the basis of Faith (Hebrews 11:1-3).
