Ecclesiastes 12:1 “Remember now thy creator in the day of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh when thou shalt say I have no pleasure in them.”
Learning When to Live for God
When is the best time to live for God? The best advice given is right now while you are young, and can make your life count for God. The reason for this advice is that someday we will not be able to live and do for God as we can now. The early years of our lives as children are full of play, as it ought to be, and our elder years are full of limitations, that leave us with the years in between childhood and old age. The in-between years may be the most productive years in life, if they are lived for the Lord.
We all like to see children in their innocents play and do things that they enjoy, perhaps because we remember those days and miss them in our own lives. Jesus said in Matthew 9:14, “But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” The innocents of little children is so wonderful for they are more willing to receive the truth of God’s Word, and those who receive His Word, of the kingdom of God, enter the kingdom of God, by faith, yet later during adolescence; we are often restless and uncertain for we are trying to develop into adults, maturing and growing. This period is a critical period of time and if our attention is directed toward God; we may save ourselves from many sorrows.
To live for God during those formative years, or that season of life is an extreme benefit, and as Eccl. 12:1, indicates very important to our future years. What will happen in the future years? We not only grow older and much more set in our ways, but life changes. The things we could do in our youth begin to pass, our energy level begins to wane, our desire and daring in courage and adventure changes, and we are less apt to be so adventurous. Will we have any regrets for not living for God? I think the answer must be a resounding yes, if we neglect our pursuit of holiness with God.
Some say that they must sow a few wild oats before they are too old to enjoy life, but this kind of thinking forgets the rewards of that kind of life experience. Many have suffered greatly and have had serious loss because of their wild oat days, pains and heartaches abound in that colorful chapter of life. The best advice we can receive is to live for the Lord while we can, and thereby enjoy the blessing of God for now, as well as in our elder years. In Jesus Name. Pdlg
