As a Christian, have you failed ? Maybe the thought of your failure has sent you into a spiral of despair ? Maybe you say, "How can I call myself a Christian, when I have failed in such and such a way ?"
It has affected your prayer life and reading of God`s Word too. It`s not that you don`t really want to pray or read the Word, it`s just your sense of deep discouragement and disappointment in yourself has drawn you into this slough of spiritual despondency.
You feel like a hypocrite when you pray.
Well, what you need is a good dose of God`s Love ! And I want to recommend that you listen carefully to this sermon by our minister, entitled
God's Love
You know, Christian, God's Love for you is just unfathomable. And as Rev Elliott looks at God's Love, he reminds us that it is an ENDURING love - that not only endures time, but endures circumstances - including our failures - and it endures the accusations of satan against God`s people.
The fact that God`s love is enduring doesn`t give us licence to sin. The Lord may have to chasten us, but it is only out of His love, just as a father would correct his son.
And I want to quote this verse that Rev Elliott looks at, and I want you to take hold of it right now and let it encourage you, dear Christian. Don`t let the lies of the devil bring you farther down in discouragement. The Lord is waiting to forgive you, and remember - when you confess a sin to your Father, He has promised to forgive you, and He will not cast it up to you again. The world may cast it up. The devils in hell may cast it up, but He is Faithful.
Here is our verse:
Jeremiah 31:3
"The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. "
Can I urge you to take the time to listen to this sermon and let it bless your soul. Put away all distractions for just 32 minutes, and get a grip and a hold of the love of God to His people.
Maybe your thoughts are constantly on the negative side of how you have failed - you need to get this truth of God`s Love into your heart and mind and soul, and get things right with Him. Then, when you have repented, and turned back to Him, you will view things differently, as you dwell on His wondrous love for you !
If you are reading this and are unsaved, then you are missing out on this wondrous love - although He does bless your life with many good things - but the wrath of God abides on you !
Romans 2:4 says, " Or despisest thou the riches of His goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? "
Let it do just that - lead you to repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ!
Finally, can I recommend the sermon preached on the same day, entitled,
A Study Of Contrasts
which looks at the lives of the just and the wicked.
This sermon will encourage the Christian greatly to keep on walking in the path of the just which
"is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day." (Proverbs 4:18)
It will also show the unsaved the folly of continuing on their path and how it will lead to a bitter end.
But it doesn`t have to be like that ! You can repent, NOW, and put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, and experience the enduring eternalness of God's matchless love !
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair, bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin
Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were every stalk on earth a quill
And every man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Though stretched from sky to sky
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints' and angels' song
