This verse speaks again of how we use our mouths. But more than that, it gives us a way to measure the state of our hearts. Are you a faithful friend? Are you a faithful Christian? This is an area where many fall and do not even consider that they are falling. It is such a temptation to take the weaknesses of others and expose them for the sake of entertainment. How many times have we listened with a sincere appearance to a friend pour their hearts out about struggles and concerns, only to turn around and joke about it to others. God is not pleased with this behavior. Let us strive to be faithful and exercise self- control. May we learn to keep our mouths shut unless we are bringing these secrets to our Heavenly Father in prayer.
