Matt. 4.19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men
This is a powerful statement Jesus makes to Peter and Andrew, which I think is applicable to the followers of Jesus today. Notice some truths from this verse.
He did not say "catchers" of men, but "fishers" of men, although if you fish long enough you will most likely, with the Lord's help, catch some men for Him.
The Lord makes His disciples to be "fishers of men" and not the disciple himself, nor religious leaders, nor church programs, nor Christian schools nor anything else. Only the Lord can do this in the life of His children.
The phrase "I will make" implies a progressive work.
The prerequisite for being a fisher of men is following Jesus.
He did not say "I might" or "possibly" or "there is a chance I will", but "I will make you fishers of men". There is no doubt what the Lord will do with your life if you follow Him.
If you are not engaged in or moving toward "fishing for men" in your spiritual life it may be you are not really following Jesus!
What are you doing with your life? Are you fishing for men? Or perhaps a better question would be are you truly following Jesus? If you are following Him it won't be long until you will be fishing!
Good luck to you, and I hope you catch your limit.
