Hymn for the Day
The moon and stars shall lose their light,
The sun shall sink in endless night,
Both heav'n and earth shall pass away,
The works of nature all decay.
But they that in the Lord believe,
By grace His righteousness receive,
Shall see the danger overpast,
Stand ev'ry storm, and live at last.
What Christ has said must be fulfilled;
On this tried Rock believers build;
His word shall stand, His truth prevail,
And not one jot or tittle fail.
What God has promised we implore,
Supplies from His exhaustless store;
O heav'nly Father, just and true,
Give us BOTH GRACE AND GLORY TOO!
(Tune: “When I Survey” Pg.118)
THE ACID TEST
Isaiah 8:20 “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”
There is a test in business called the “acid test.” It is used to check the soundness of one’s business. The acid test to check the soundness of one’s message is the scriptures. Just as numbers do not lie in business, the scriptures that God has given to us do not lie. Search the scriptures to see if the message is true.
Why We Preach the Sovereignty of God
Man always finds a reason to not believe in the God of the bible. When we preach God as Sovereign they say it takes away man’s responsibility. That it makes God to be something he is not. But when it is all said and done all that matters is what does the Holy Scriptures say about HIM? He said he “ would not give his glory to another”. Isa.42:8 I will give five scriptural reasons why we preach the Sovereignty of God.
1- It gives all the glory to God, to whom it belongs. Ephesians 1 says he “works all things after the counsel of his own will” he does all “things to the praise of his grace”.
“ Not unto us, not unto us but unto thy name be glory, for thy mercy and truths sake” Ps.115. Can we give God too much glory?
2- It makes men more responsible that any other message. Why? Because God said “ look unto me and be ye saved, I am a just God and a savior”.
It is God who commands men to repent and believe. To refuse his creator, to refuse his word, that is the height of rebellion and insanity.
He is the one who tells men what he requires in relation to himself.
3- The message of Gods sovereignty brings men to a verdict. Man will do one of two things, he will bow and bless his holy name or say, ’I will not have this man to reign over me”.
4- It encourages the sinner to come to God in Christ because he knows he cannot save himself. God must do it. Salvation is of the Lord.
5- It gives rest to the saint since he could not save himself, he knows he cannot keep himself. But God can and does! “ I am God I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob ye are not consumed”. Mal. 3:6

Itching Ears
2 Timothy 4:3-4
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
I don’t think that there is any doubt that this time has come. I am amazed at the things that naturally bright and intelligent men and women will sit and listen to today. People will flock to hear a man who claims to have gone to heaven and returned with stories to tell after being revived on the operating table. Men and women are simply fascinated by such sensationalism but are not interested in the plain and simple teaching of redemption in and by the perfect righteousness of Christ. They will not endure sound doctrine. Men and women will fill auditoriums to heap to themselves teachers who tell them how God desires for all to be healthy and wealthy but they have turned away their ears from the truth to hear these fables. Paul tells us this is caused by their own lusts. Men want God to be who and what they desire but they do not desire God to be who and what He is. I speak of those who have nothing but itching ears.

CHRIST: A LIVING REALITY
John 14:19 “Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.”
Jesus Christ is not someone who lived, but one who lives and is seated at God’s right hand, where angels and authorities and powers are made subject unto him. (1 Peter 3:22) The gospel is not just a story to be believed, but a living person to receive, love and worship. Jesus Christ is the life and hope of every blood-bought son of God. (I Timothy 1:1)
