God is looking for people who will save those feelings for awhile and go after truth. What has God said? Where is TRUTH found? Read carefully John 1:1-5, 14, and Hebrews 1:1. God spoke before Jesus by the prophets. Now he speaks by Jesus. The message has been clearly given. All are responsible for it.
That Word of God passed by the Spirit to 12 men, apostles. The Foundation was laid. We continue to build on their foundation. There is no need for more apostles to build more foundations.
So do we have apostles today? Yes. Matthew, John, Paul, Peter, etc. Anyone calling himself an apostle today must tell why he disagrees with the apostles we already have. (And once he disagrees, tell him goodbye. That is my philosophy anyway!)
We should also ask apostles today: why is your life not the same as the 12? why no persecution? Why no violent death at the hands of those who hate you, as was true of Jesus, your Master?
Why are we seeking more than the Bible says in our day? We have already from the apostles:
all about Jesus we need to know. There is MUCH more, but this will keep us busy.
how we should live our lives. No new commands are needed. There's plenty!
visions of heaven and hell and His coming. No more are needed. Dwell in these! Some of the visions coming out today are clearly not from God, because they change the revelation we already have. As for the others, if they tell more than the Bible, they are suspect. But if they tell the same as, why do we need them anyway?
Put all of the above together and we have the Word. The Word of Christ. Christ Himself manifested. He lives on. His word lives on.
But every generation has people coming against Him and His Word. They have all failed.
Everyone wants to offer the Satanic question begun by the serpent and echoed by Pilate? What is truth? Pilate looks into the eyes of Jesus and says, What is truth?
If we are not satisfied with the truth God has given, it is because our eyes have been blinded. The god of this system, this cosmos, blinds us with the disease called the world. John warns us not to love the world, brought to us by the media. the fleshly sensual appeals that are flashed before us. They will make us blind and send us to hell for eternity.
Let's talk about THE TWELVE.
When we finally get to Heaven, (Now, not all get to go there. More later on this) and Heaven comes to Earth, we will see a City. And around this City, a wall. And the twelve foundations of this wall will each carry the name of an apostle. Twelve apostles did it all. Twelve apostles hold up the Church of God even in our day. We need no more foundation laid.
How could twelve men do it all? We could just as well ask, how could One Man be the chief cornerstone of the whole edifice and secure salvation for so many? Well, He was God, you say.
But these twelve men changed the course of human history, because the Spirit of that Jesus, who is God, lived and worked in them. Little is much when God is in it.
These apostles are still changing our world. The people that they reached, the writings that they passed down are still the foundation for all.
But even in the times of the New Testament, there were people claiming to be apostles, but who were false apostles. Paul condemns them. John condemns them. The number of foundations is fixed.
I am aware that "apostle" means "one sent." Oh there are men "sent" into the world to preach, and start new works here and there. To avoid confusion, we call them "missionaries" today. The "twelve" need no more help to found the church. The church is founded already.
