The perpetual enemy of Israel are again on the offensive to the point where they surround the city of Samaria. Their aim was to starve them to death. In this part of the world we can make comparsions with the 'Siege of Derry'- and what it must have been like. 1. The Trouble of a city. - great famine. - came upon them because of the judgement of God. 2. The Pretence of a King. - Jehoram had an outward display of religion and piety - i.e wearing the sackcloth. But at the same time he desired to murder Elisha. The Spirit of Jehoram is still evident in the church of today! 3. Contrast of the Prophet. - he had discernment of the situation. - his description of the king. - he had a message.(looked at next time) The Siege Continues!
