“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9:10

Think about the phrase “the knowledge of the holy.” It has a majestic ring to it, doesn’t it? The holy is the inner sanctum, the sacred, the dwelling place of God. The Old Testament clearly relates how unapproachable God is in His nature. Only the high priest could enter the dwelling place of God, and even then, only under unique and specific conditions. Uzzah dropped dead after touching the holy.

Nadab and Abihu were slain after profaning the holy. The Holy God is mysterious, off limits, fearful.
