Book Recommendation: Dying to Live
Dying to Live: Abandoning Yourself to God’s Bold Paradox . By Clayton King. Eugene: Harvest House, 2010. It does your spirit good to read a book with a fresh challenge to really believe what the Bible says and put your faith into action! It’s really cool when it’s one of your buddies from the days of youth group who wrote it! I am thankful to God for the lifelong friendship of Clayton King, and I give God much praise for how He has gifted and used Clayton for His glory as long as I have known him.
I have to say upfront, any book that uses Braveheart and Gladiator as illustrations and the Southern expression “smack dab”, has to be good!
On a serious note, Clayton unfolds Christ’s invitation to find true life by dying to self through biblical passages, excellent quotes, stirring testimonials, and anecdotal stories of how he has personally experienced the truth of gaining by giving and living by dying.
But its more than just a defense of this truth. Clayton calls on unbelievers to believe it and believers to live it. Don’t let it remain a theory. Jump in with both feet. Believe God at His Word. Take Him at His promise. If you lose your life for His name’s sake, you will find it!!!!!!
