Ruppel Report

The Ruppel family has landed back in Cambodia. We landed safely at about 11 PM Thursday night (Cambodian time). A nice size group of our people came out to welcome us. it was quite a sacrifice for them. Many of them had a 45 minute ride home after seeing us all the way to our house. It was reallly great to see them. It will be wonderful to see everyone once again tomorrow in church.

God did a great work in our family while we were in America. Ryan, Blake, and Rhadee all grew in the Lord so much while we were home. I am very proud of them. I am also very proud of our home church, First Baptist Church of Bridgeport. The love and encouragement that my family received from our home church is pricelss to us. Having been gone for 5 years, we feared to be as strangers coming back to our own church, but the church received us back as if we had never left. Our relationhip with the people of First Baptist continued to grow during the whole year we were home. I don't know of, nor can I imagine, any missionary having a better sending church than we have. Thank you to all the dear people of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport for faithfully being our support team for so many years.

It has surprised Becky and I how quickly we are adjusting to all the necessary changes caused by that 26 hour flight. I am not speaking of jet lag. That is still catching up to us, or should I say, we are catching up to it. No, I am talking about so many little things that change when you change cultures, climates, language, etc. For example, just a week ago, we were tryng to figure out who was getting their shower at night or in the morning, because we didn't want to run out of hot water at either time. I stepped out of the bathroom this morning and said to Becky, "There is still cold water. Better get in before it gets hot." (No typos. I double-checked) You see, the heat of the day will warm up the pipes, so that you can't get cold water during the day. Cold water feels so much better than hot in this climate. After saying it, it dawned on me, that I didn't even think it a strange thing to say. Please keep praying for us during this transition back to Cambodia.

God Bless You All,
Rodney Ruppel
