THE WAY, THE TRUTH, THE LIFE Tune to "O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES" CM Words by JIM BYRD
1. O hear this Word. To God above Christ Jesus is the Way; And those who follow other paths, Have surely gone astray.
2. The Son of God, He is the Truth, The Word of God revealed; And those who find their hope in Him, A good foundation build.
3. He is the Life to lifeless souls, To rebels dead in sin; Who have no righteousness themselves, No worthiness within.
4. He is the Way, the Truth, the Life, On Jesus then rely; For those who do not trust in Him, Forevermore must die. *************************************************************************** Daily Readings: July 1-7 Sunday - Ps. 40-45 Monday - Ps. 46-51 Tuesday - Ps. 52-59 Wednesday- Ps. 60-66 Thursday - Ps. 67-71 Friday - Ps. 72-77 Saturday - Ps. 78-80
SALVATION WITHOUT COMPROMISE The salvation of sinners is so well designed, so wisely conceived, that the thrice holy God can show mercy to His people, forgive them, be at peace with them, and declare them to be justified in His sight without any wrong being done to His justice which demands death as the wages of sin. "Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other" (Psalm 85:10). Where did mercy and truth meet? Where did righteousness and peace kiss each other? In the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Behold the substitutionary death of Christ, and see the justice of God satisfied in the punishment of the Just One in the stead of the unjust ones. The perfect Sacrifice was slain and all the guilty ones for whom He died were freed. "Then He is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom" (Job 33:24). The Lord did not lower His standards nor compromise His law in the salvation of sinners - that could never be. He saves poor sinners, not at the expense of His justice, but with its full consent through the death and resurrection of Christ. –Pastor Jim Byrd *************************************************************************** "YE THAT WORK INIQUITY" The Lord said, "Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Thy name? and in Thy name have cast out devils? and in Thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity" (Matt. 7:21-23). The question is, how could He call their works "iniquity"? The word "iniquity" shows that their works were not equal to (did not measure up to) righteousness. No works done by a sinner, even a saved sinner, not even our best works, can equal the righteousness God requires to justify us. The only way we can measure up to righteousness is TO BE FOUND IN CHRIST – washed in His blood and clothed in His righteousness. We can plead nothing else but Christ and Him crucified as our complete and only righteousness before God. Anything else is iniquity. Our desire, therefore, should be the same as the Apostle Paul’s – To "be found IN HIM, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith" (Philippians 3:9). –Pastor Bill Parker *************************************************************************** Whate’er my God ordains is right: His holy will abideth; I will be still whate’er He doth, And follow where He guideth. He is my God; though dark my road, He holds me that I shall not fall; Wherefore to Him I leave it all.
Whate’er my God ordains is right: He never will desert me; He leads me by the proper path; I know He will not leave me. Content I take, what He hath sent, His hand can turn my griefs away, And patiently I wait His day.
Whate’er my God ordains is right: Here shall my stand be taken; Though sorrow, need, or death be mine, Yet am I not forsaken. My Father’s care is round me there; He holds me that I shall not fall; And so to Him I leave it all. –Samuel Rodigast, 1675 *************************************************************************** SATAN’S PROMISES Satan promises the best, but pays with the worst; he promises honor and pays with disgrace; he promises pleasure and pays with pain; he promises profit and pays with loss; he promises life and pays with death. –Thomas Brooks
