“Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. ” Philippians 4:9 Whether you like it or not, your life is an example. It may be a really bad one, or it could be one like the Apostle Paul, as stated in this verse. It’s not that we live our lives as a show or performance so we can impress others. Our focus is to be on Christ. But, just as we are to love God, we are to love our neighbor as well. One of the best ways we can love our neighbor is to follow God (I John 5:2).
If someone were to pattern their life after yours, what would it look like? Would there be deep love and obedience to the Lord? Would it be a life of selfless service, a life poured out to minister to others? Would there be faithfulness to God, even when no one else was around?
Your life can potentially be a tremendous blessing to the kingdom of God. Many, many people in our day need Christ-like examples. To be sure, it’s a tall order. It’s not one we can fulfill on our own. But the same Paul who wrote verse 9, also wrote verse 13, “I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.”
