Do you love the salvation of God? This salvation we are speaking of is that covenant love that God has bound Himself to, for the purpose of delivering His people from sin. It is that salvation that makes condemned, dirty sinners clean and righteous in the eyes of the Judge. It is the salvation that saves us from death and makes us truly alive. It is the salvation that does more than just get us to heaven, but provides the grace and strength to serve Him in this present evil world. It is the salvation that will one day present to us a finish line, and the other side of the finish line is unspeakably beautiful.

David’s prayer here is that those who love this salvation would have a continual cry of the heart: “The Lord be magnified.” Is that our heartbeat in life? The desire for our gracious Lord to be glorified and honored? Is that what we long for more than anything else? An elderly sister who had gone through tremendous physical affliction over several years, including numerous falls, Parkinson’s disease, mostly losing her ability to write, and other maladies, once verbalized this sentiment to me. Of her present suffering, she said something like this, “If it will bring the Lord glory, I am willing to endure it.”
