Dr. Thang Bwee of Myanmar (Burma) contacted me today to explain that he will be in Australia during the month of February, but arrangements are for Siama (a Mizo and teacher at the Reformed Bible Institute) to supervise the Psalter work. We expect that Simon will also be working with us. He is the man who did the original translation of the Psalter into Burmese. The function of this trip is not a first translation, but to "smooth" the translations for better singability. Earlier this year we made JPG digital files of the tonic-solfa available to Siama for inclusion in the Psalter. As of now, things appear to be on course. Thang Bwee also informs me that a Korean pastor has taken up permanent residence in Yangon in order to teach at the RBI. This will greatly facilitate our work there as well.
