“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ .” Ephesians 1:3 We are obligated to praise God for every kind of blessing He gives, but in this passage we are pointed to worship specifically for spiritual blessings. There are certain temporal blessings that some of God’s people have and others don’t. Some of God’s people are blessed with great financial wealth. Many others are not. Some are blessed with exceptional health; others are not. Some are blessed to live in free countries; many others are not.
But all of God’s chosen ones share in common the most important blessings of all, spiritual blessings. These are things mentioned in the immediate context such as election, adoption, forgiveness of sins, eternal life, the gift of faith, and much more. Spiritual blessings include things like prayer, fellowship with God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and Godly wisdom.
Praise God today for the most precious blessings of all. And, crave those blessings above all other blessings. May we be rich in faith, love, and communion with God!
