Thought for the week: βThen God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.β Jonah 3:10
Prayer for the church Please pray for the ongoing weekly activities that God may bless each.
Pray for Mrs. Fairclough as she is weak and receiving medical attention in hospital, and as decisions are made re. her future care.
Please remember friends of the fellowship who are ill and in need of our prayers; Peggy, Ros (Leeβs mum), George β Paul was able to leave a Johnβs Gospel with him on Friday.
Please pray daily for the camp this week being held in Tywyn, that in everything Godβs Name may be glorified.
Please pray for Laura and Mark this week.
Please pray for Aunty Kit who has broken her pelvis.
For the local area Feltham βWe thank God for an enthusiasm to reach people on their doorsteps by our young people and for the start of the Institute of Biblical Studies where we are seeking to train young people in the Lordβs work. The numbers at our meetings have been maintained and we feel the Lord is blessing us.β
For the wider area The Grace World View - France
France is Europe's largest state. The land covers a variety of terrain from the Mediterranean coast to the Alps and the Pyrenees mountains to the rolling plains of the north and west. France is blessed with beautiful countryside and striking architecture.
Just over 60 million people live in France. Although there is a large ethnic French community, France is a composition of many different ethnic groups. In recent years there has been a significant increase in the number Muslim immigrants from north Africa and the Middle East.
France possesses one of the stronger economies in the world. It is diverse and highly industrialized. However, the economy is increasingly burdened with an extensive social welfare system.
France has a long and storied past. Over the last century, France has lost a good deal of its overseas power and influence. Its current form of government is a republic with a strong presidency. The current president is strongly socialist. France is a secular state with freedom of religion.
The French are traditionally Roman Catholic. In centuries past France had a large number of Protestants but severe persecution drove most of them out. Now the Catholic church is also in decline. In 1900, nearly all French were classified as Roman Catholic. Today, only two thirds are. Nearly all of the shift away from the Catholic church has been to atheism or Islam.
Evangelicals are very few in number. There are some evangelical missionaries in France with small congregations. There are other evangelical works which cater primarily to evangelical expatriates working in France. There are few French believers.
France truly is a mission field. In general, the people do not know the gospel, and those that do hear have no time for it. They are too busy with their secular lives to have anything to do with religion, and religion represents more of a commitment than most French are willing to make.
Pray for the missionaries who work in France and pray for the evangelical churches. Most of all, pray for the French people that the Lord would be merciful and take away their blindness to the things of God.
