Election fever is beginning to break out in America. With a presidential election just under a year away, political hopefuls, especially of Republican stripe, are jockeying to get the party’s nomination. Nothing unusual in that. What is new this time round is the remarkable prominence a group of hyper-charismatic leaders have assumed in the whole contest. Rick Perry, Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachman, all household names in America and heavy-weights on the political right, have connections with this movement. So what is the NAR? Who are its leaders? What are they trying to do on the right of American politics?
